Lisa Quartarolo is an experienced attorney who focuses on protecting the rights of children in New Jersey. For the past seven years, Lisa had focused solely on the representation of parents and guardians of children with disabilities, as well as adult students with disabilities, in disputes over the provision of a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Prior to beginning her “second career” in law, she gained more than twenty-years of negotiation experience in the corporate world. With her in-depth knowledge of special education law and negotiation experience. she is often able to bring the parties together to achieve settlement that satisfies her clients. She has successfully negotiated a variety of settlements that have led to the student being placed in an appropriate out-of-district placement, receiving compensatory education services or funds, and removing disciplinary action from student records, In addition, Lisa has appeared in numerous cases before the Office of Administrative Law and appealed adverse judgements to state and federal courts.

Lisa’s interest in special education law grew out of advocacy for her own child and the multiple inquiries she received from numerous other parents asking for help to advocate for their own children. Starting first as an educational advocate, she set-up her own law practice in 2013. During her five years as a solo practitioner she performed extensive pro bono work on behalf of low income clients. Lisa joined John Rue & Associates as Counsel in 2018. She continues to focus a good deal of her time and attention to pro bono matters. She was a recipient of a Pro Bono Service Award from Legal Services of New Jersey in 2019. Lisa’s received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Lafayette College. She received both her MBA, and her law degree, from the Rutgers- The State University of New Jersey. She was enrolled as part-time student in the evenings for both programs.

Lisa is an excellent multi-tasker. Having first juggled a full-time career that involved international travel with attending classes three to four nights weekly, she now balances the demands of her profession, her family (husband, three teenage children and a rescue dog) and serves on multiple Boards of Directors. Lisa is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for New Jersey.
