United States Supreme Court

Ms. Curbelo is “of-counsel” to John Rue & Associates. This means that, although Carolina does not work for JR&A (she has her own firm; its website is here), the two firms have a close collaborative relationship, and regularly work together in the interests of children with disabilities. In short, the clients of both firms benefit from JR&A and Ms. Curbelo’s relationship, permitting consultation and collaboration to leverage synergies between their experience and capabilities.

Ms. Curbelo is the daughter of Cuban refugees, and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Her immigration practice includes Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) Cases for abandoned, neglected and abused children in the U.S., asylum or withholding cases, and a wide variety of other immigration matters in and out of immigration court. In addition, as the mother of a twice-exceptional child, she has first-hand experience negotiating and navigating the special education process. She has represented parents and their children at IEP meetings, due process hearings, and settlement negotiations.
